Ticket info | Buy online

To accommodate a high level of interest and excitement about the concert featuring Calgary young piano star Jan Lisiecki,
ECMS has moved the concert venue to:

WEST END CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH
10015 – 149 St NW  Edmonton, AB  [map]

This young piano virtuoso is in the midst of a thriving international career in classical music and he is sure to be an inspiration to aspiring young pianists in the city.

Note that the concert start times for this season have changed to 7:30 PM.

Begin the evening by attending a pre-concert performance by the ECMS Scholarship Winner at 7 PM. Each year the ECMS awards a scholarship to a student studying in the Edmonton area through a competitive process. Come and hear a young emerging artist.

During intermission plan to meet friends or make new ones at a wine reception.

Volunteer Opportunity
Board of Directors: Publicity and Promotion

The Edmonton Chamber Music Society (ECMS), a well-established volunteer-run community organization, has an opportunity for a volunteer to apply his/her publicity and promotions skills to build audiences, promote world-class chamber musicians and ensembles visiting our city, and increase public awareness and appreciation of chamber music.

For over 60 years ECMS has been bringing internationally renowned chamber musicians to Edmonton. Serving thousands of appreciative audience members, our concert seasons offer a range of programming from early music to contemporary works performed by vocal ensembles, instrumental soloists and small chamber orchestras and traditional string quartets.

Since 2008 ECMS has also successfully produced a Summer Solstice Music Festival in June of each year, bringing chamber musicians together for a diverse array of concerts, master classes and outreach events.

As a not-for-profit organization, our Board members act in both a governance and a working capacity. The board holds approximately 10 evening meetings and one strategic planning session per year.

We are seeking a person to cover this vital role for a 15-month term while the current Director is on sabbatical leave.

The Publicity and Promotion Director is responsible for:

  • Planning and directing traditional media and social media methods to attract audiences for the season’s concerts and the Summer Solstice Chamber Music Festival
  • Overseeing the budget and working closely with contractors for a variety of functions including website development and maintenance, social media, graphic design, and print material
  • Designing marketing strategies and implementing ways to attract and diversify the audience for chamber music

The first four months will allow for an overlap with the current Director to become familiar with the role. The Society can provide orientation and training as needed.

Experience in communications, advertising or media relations would be assets. Ability to provide direction, some knowledge of classical music and willingness to work independently as well as part of a consensus-driven organization are important for the role.

Interested? Please contact me to discuss options.

Changes to Arts Coverage in The Edmonton Journal

Major cuts to local arts coverage being planned at The Edmonton Journal. The following cuts, among others, are currently being proposed:

  • There will be no more previews of classical music events.
  • Only classical music events that have a major celebrity performing will potentially be reviewed and will be available online only.
  • There will no longer be a full-time Arts editor.

These cuts will have a devastating effect on the local arts community. The Journal has been a major source for Edmontonians to find out about upcoming classical music events. Reviews are a key component of the music scene and serve as motivation for local performers.

The Edmonton Chamber Music Society, through the work of our Student Board representative Isis Tse, has started a petition in an effort to have these cuts reversed. We ask you to consider signing the petition.
