AMARCORD

Amarcord is a German male classical a cappella vocal group based in Leipzig, founded in 1992 by five former members of the Thomanerchor. The ensemble performs a vast range of music, from medieval plainsong to madrigals and Renaissance masses, to compositions and cycles of works of the European Romantic period and the 20^th century, to jazz and New Music. Amarcord has won prizes at many international competitions and its diverse repertoire is available on numerous CDs.

Benedicamus Domino: Let us praise the Lord.
For centuries, composers have sought to set to music their hopes and doubts about the Christian promise of salvation. Amarcord presents a string of impressive examples from the 19^th and 20^th centuries, as much disturbing as comforting. Composers include Hugo Wolf, Richard Strauss, Max Reger, Carl Orff, Darius Milhaud, Francis Poulenc, and Krysztof Penderecki.
