The Edmonton Chamber Music Society presents
2018 Summer Solstice Music Festival
Plans are underway for the ECMS 2018 Summer Solstice Music Festival. We have an 11-day program planned: from June 12-17 and from June 18-22, 2018.
Amateur Chamber Music Workshop
Are you a soloist or group that wants to take your performing to the next level this summer?
The Summer Solstice Seminar is the chance for musicians to play and study chamber music and to be coached by Lesley Robertson (from the St. Lawrence String Quartet), principal members of the ESO, or University of Alberta music faculty.
- The workshop will take place for five days, from June 12-16, 2018 ending with a performance on June 17, 2018.
- Each group will receive daily two-hour coachings. Times and places of sessions will be scheduled by individual coaches.
- Cost is $425 per person.
- Musicians may apply as a formed group or as an individual. We will make every effort to fit you into a group based on your level of experience and playing.
To apply or obtain more information, please email email@example.com with a brief description of your musical background (private studies, performance or chamber music experience, orchestral experience, level of solo works currently studying).
Summer Solstice Music Festival
June 18 – June 22, 2018
The first week will be followed by three mainstage concerts (June 18, 20 and 22) and informal community outreach events.
The St. Lawrence String Quartet, one of the professional groups to perform on the mainstage, will also perform at the Yellowhead Brewery on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 in a special program, Chamber Music Rocks, featuring the history of the string quartet.
All mainstage concerts will be held at Knox Evangelical Free Church [8403 104 St. NW] [directions] in Old Strathcona (next to the Public Library). Plan on having a dinner in Old Strathcona or getting together with friends at the many restaurants and bars in the vicinity.
