THE LONDON HAYDN QUARTET
with Eric Hoeprich, Clarinet
Catherine Manson Violin | Michael Gurevich Violin | James Boyd Viola | Jonathan Mason Cello | Eric Hoeprich Clarinet
One of the world’s leading period instrument string quartets, The London Haydn Quartet was born in 2000 out of a passion for Haydn. The quartet has collaborated with period clarinetist Eric Hoeprich to record the Brahms and Mozart quintets on the Glossa label and has embarked on recording the complete Haydn quartets on Hyperion.
Eric Hoeprich is one of the leading exponents of the historical clarinet, from the Baroque to the late Romantic period. He teaches at the Paris Conservatoire, Indiana University’s Early Music Institute, and the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.
“The quartet’s deeply committed music-making seemed indicative of a long-standing and nourishing partnership ... Mr. Hoeprich’s rounded, mellow tone meshed alluringly with the warm sound of the gut strings.” –New York Times
